exam about irish history.

ok so i'm from the UK and our class is writing an exam on irish history on thuesday. so where suppost to write an essay about everything we know and answer some questions.but my problem is actually the essay.
how do i start it??? and after that, should i just list up all the points??
and how do i end ??
those are my problems lol
i dont need info on irish history, just some tips on how to write an essay. thank youuuuuu :)

start with a specific anecdote which serves as an image embodiment of some great theme in irish history. then, zooming out, outline your thesis and map of how you will be following that theme thru out irish history
