flat iron problems

Question Posted Saturday April 5 2008, 11:15 pm

my flat iron keeps randomly turning on and off.
i have a babyliss pro 1 inch flat iron, not the best thing in the world [it was about $60]. it does have a swivel cord, and i'm wondering if maybe that's the problem?
is it fixable or should i just buy a better flat iron?
and if i should buy another flat iron, can you recommend any? i've heard chi actually isn't the greatest. it usually takes me about 10-15 minutes to straighten my hair with my flat iron at 450 degrees. so i guess i have thick hair.
thank you :]

I got a conair flat iron for 16$. i don't remember the exact name, it's black, has a straight cord, turbo setting, and temp settings from 1-25.
it has worked faithfully and well for three years now.
best purchase ever.

I went all out and got a Turbo Chi, yup .. big waste of money. It was 180$ when I bought it.
My friends have the original Chi, about 100$ (you can get them cheaper now) and those ones are amazing. Plus, they make flawless curls once you perfect the technique. You can't do that with the Turbo Chi. So if you do decide to go with the Chi, I recommend the original.

Other then that, I used to have a Helen of Troy Ceramic Series that was about 40$ and I loved it. However, after a year of constant use, it just wore out.

Good Luck<3

It may be the plug just becoming loose from the plug (that's what happens a lot with my curling iron)

But if you want to go for a new one, I suggest you get Revlon 1" ceramic straightener. It heats up within 60 seconds and it works perfectly! You can find one at Target, CVS, Bed Bath & Beyond (where I got mine for th lowest price: $25), etc.
