Mark 16:15-16 "Then he told them: Go and preach the good news to everyone in the world. Anyone who believes me and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe me will be condemned." (CEV) In order to truly believe, repentance must take place, but baptism is not a requirement of salvation; belief is. This passage doesn't say "anyone who refuses to believe in me and is not baptized will be condemned". That's because belief (faith) IS the requirement for salvation. Baptism is the outward expression of the regenerated heart of the saved person.

Below are a few passages that back this up.

Acts 10:43-48 "To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name." While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles. For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter declared, "Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?" And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for some days." (ESV) The Holy Spirit could not have come on these people had they not first been made right with God through faith in Jesus. They were saved through faith in Jesus. Peter saw the presence of God on them so then they were baptized showing an outward expression of their faith.

Acts 15:11 But our Lord Jesus was kind to us, and we are saved by faith in him, just as the Gentiles are. (CEV) Saved by faith in Jesus.

Acts 16:30-31 Then he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" And they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." (ESV) This one says it all. Saved by faith in Jesus.

Acts 18:8 "....and all the people who had faith in the Lord were baptized." (CEV) They were baptized as an expression of their faith in Jesus.

This one where Jesus appeared to Paul on the road to Damascus and spoke to him. Acts 26:18 ".....that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me." (ESV) We are sanctified (sanctified means separated or saved) by faith in Jesus.

Romans 4:5 "But you cannot make God accept you because of something you do. God accepts sinners only because they have faith in him." (CEV) Again, faith.

There are oodles of passages about Abraham being accepted by God because of his faith and Abraham was not baptized. I could go on, but I think the point has been made. May God bless you!
