Whatever you got out of the jump, which was nothing, would be squashed down by gravity as you hit the ground anyway.

False. Height is genetic. However, I have a friend who had treatments for her back where they put her on sort of a stretching apparatus, which increased the space between the vertebrae in her back. As a result, nutrients could get to the in between places and she ended up "growing" about half an inch.
