non-married people wear rings as accessories. like wearing a necklace or bracelet or something. if they have several it probably means they just really like rings. ]
It could just be for fashion ]
My mom wears several rings, not on her ring finger, but she wears them. She likes the way they look on her hand. A lot of women like to show their personality through the rings they choose. I don't know about men. I think they just wear rings for the "bling-bling" factor, to be "cool", but if you ask me, it just looks gaudy. ]
There are a lot of reasons people where rings; they aren't just for married people ;].
1. Class ring from high school or college.
2. Their parents bought them a ring for birthday, Christmas, Easter, etc.
3. Friendship rings.
4. Claddagh ring [[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)] or other heritage rings.
5. Rings passed down in the family.
And that's only 5 of the many reasons.

People wear rings because rings are pretty. I wear a ring just because I like it. Some people wear promise rings- it's saying that they won't have sex until they're married. It doesn't mean anything if people have several rings. ]
