Friends or academics?transfering schools

Question Posted Tuesday March 25 2008, 9:12 pm

Hey. I don't really know where to begin. I am 15 years old and I go to this private school. In fact it is an excellent school and almost everyone goes to the top colleges afterwards. Well, I just transfered here in September for the start of 9th grade. I like the teachers (most of them anyways) and it has so many amazing things. I have learned so much and my grades are excellent. I am on the honor roll too. But, the problem is I don't like the students. I have a group of people who I hang out with at lunch. They are 2 other girls, one in 8th grade and another in 7th grade. But, I am in 9th grade you see. In addition to that I am friends with this other girl in my class who I have known for years. I don't really have many friends because I am still new and I just don't care for most of them. I used to be part of the "popular" girls, but to be frank with you, they were bitches sometimes, so I dumped them as friends. So I am also pretty quite and I keep to my self since I am not really comfortable around them.
I told my parents I wanted to switch schools. So I got excepted into this school where almost all my friends go and it is great, except the school isn't that good. And then I am applying to another, but I don't like and I don't know anyone there
So what should I do? Pick friends over academics?
Or academics over friends?
I know I am suppose to be learning and preparing for college, but shouldn't I be able to experience this with my friends?

Well, in my opinion, I really think you should spend it with your friends. Im not saying that theyre more important then your accemdemics, and imnot saying vise versa either. If you have your friends, then they provide a good environment for you to learn in, i mean honestly, do you really want to be doing great in a school, but miserable socially?
If you have your freinds, it makes it alot more fun and a positive attitude can make your grades all the more better.
I know this sounds bad, but trust me it helps.
Just dont get too obsessed with your friends that your grades drop.
Then thats a whole other problem.
Good luck and i hope u make the right choice
:)
