Muscle spasms can be caused by calcium or potassium deficiency, but there are lots of other possible causes. A couple of common ones are not getting enough fluids, or overworking the muscle. If it's a frequent problem, you should probably see your doctor to investigate the reason, as it can also be a sign of nerve problems.
To stop a spasm, try pointing your toes away from your head as far as possible, then pull them in toward you. You can also try massaging the muscle. Using a long, stroking pattern of massage works especially well. Heat pads work good too. [ ♥ ] [ advicex's advice column | Ask advicex A Question ]
