You should get checked out by a doctor. That mucus could be nothing, but it's better to be safe than sorry. If you're constipated at all, your intestines produce a mucus to help the stool move. If that's not the case, then go to your doctor and talk to him about what's going on with you.
I don't want to scare you or anything at all, but watch for blood when you wipe, too.
I'm gonna take a wild guess and say your period is just irregular because you're young, and that you have nothing to worry about there.
Have you been losing a lot of weight, or gaining weight? Have you changed your diet recently? Any weight loss or gain can throw off your period. Any change in your diet can change what happens when you go to the bathroom.
I'm not a doctor, but I have crohn's disease and I know a lot about gastrointestinal issues, lol.
The best advice I can give you is go to your doctor and see if he knows a GI doctor (gastrointestinal). A GI doc can do a few tests for you and give you a real diagnosis. Most of us here aren't certified to do that, especially not without any way to run any tests on you.
While this is going on, try to lay off gassy veggies, and eat bland things. Stay away from caffeine, and try not to eat things that are hard to digest, like popcorn.
Get checked out. Feel better *hug*

okay what it porbably is is discharge from your vagina. when you ovulate (eggs drop for your next period) the discharge tends to be like a loogie or snot. i doubt that it was anything from your butt... if it happens even while on your period then its anal discharge and that might just be eatign too much fake sugar (spleda, sweet and low). i really hope this helps
