Free Antivirus

What is a good, free, anti-virus software? I had Norton, but it is way too expensive for me to renew.

I need something that will protect me from viruses when I'm using the Internet.

I use Avast. It protects against spyware as well as viruses. It's heavy on system resources, though. If you have a slow computer, use Antivir.
