Best Curlers to Use?

Question Posted Friday February 22 2008, 2:50 pm

I have fine, thin hair that is very straight and was wondering what the best choice of rollers/curlers would be for me. I really want to add some nice curl to my hair. I know there are some you leave in overnight and some that are heated but I'm really not sure what would be best for my hair and if there are any specific brands I should be looking for. Any suggestions?

Additional info, added Friday February 22 2008, 5:08 pm:
I also have long hair--a bit below the shoulders but not quite halfway down the back. (I apologize for not adding this previously).

You don't say how long your hair is, but i've had good luck with the kind of curlers that are foam wrapped in cotton, and have wire ends (inside the cotton) that you roll up and twist the ends to hold them in place. I got them at the grocery store. My hair is fairly long, I wash it and blow dry it until it's just barely damp, then put the curlers in. I get the best results when I sleep on them overnight, but i've also put them in and then used a blow dryer to "hurry" them along a bit, but it still takes a few hours to get a good curl. I don't recommend the heated curlers for anything but occaisional use, they could end up damaging your hair.

After I take the curlers out, i lean over and shake my head, run my fingers through my hair a few times. Use some hairspray and your fingers to "scrunch" your curls in place. Combing just makes it too frizzy. Maybe a "pick" would be good (um, that goes back about 10 years, don't know if they still sell 'em).
