Question Posted Wednesday February 20 2008, 10:33 pm

So i am 13/f, and in 8th grade. My friend, 14/m, wants to work at party city, and i think im too young but he says its fine. I looked it up and said you ahve to be in high school, but we will be soon, so what do you think? How old do you have to be? (We live in commack, NY) and it says for a Part time cashier and stock: Education and Experience for Part Time Cashier and Stock

High School graduate or equivalent.

...so do you think i can apply? Thanks!!!

LM's right, it says high school grad- so it doesn't apply to you. Besides that, there are child labor laws that would conflict with your age. There are some places that hire at 15, and most places hire at 16. You can still apply, but it would be best to wait a few years.

Well, unless you're a high school graduate or have your GED already, you technically don't qualify.

But there's no harm in applying, they may have another job available for you.
