ok so i'm going to be a sophmore and we're currently making our schedules for next year.
first question: i'm in frnech 1 and am planning on taking french 2 but the teacher isn't good. like she teaches us words but not how to put them into sentences and stuff and i'm not learning anything really. so is it ok to take like 2 years of french and then two years of chinese? like is that good for colleges or should i stick with french?
another thing what types of after school activities and such look good or college?
ohh- and teh first year of a language.. you learn verbs, and nouns.
the second year you start learning how to put sentences together.. more gramatical stuff which carries out into your 3rd year..
your fourth year is more of just advancing your language, and becomming fluent.
and its always good to take some sort of art either music or an acualy art class as well as some computer or business education courses.
uisforukelele answered Friday February 8 2008, 9:13 pm: colleges would prefer that you take several years (like three... two at minimum) of the same foreign language. i think it would be better if you stuck with french. as for after school activities, look for leadership and volunteer opportunities. it's always good to be involved in uil activities- like sports, music, and uil academics. and if you join a club that has officers, run for officer! it can't hurt you, and it looks great on an application. honestly, do as many essay contests (or the like) as you can. it may seem stupid, but if you win an award then that is impressive too. my school offers all these little contests and stuff, and because nobody really participates, you have a better likelihood of winning something if you turn something in.
