my windows xp laptop is (was) connected to Linksys. it was working fine and now i cant get on the internet!!!
when i hover over the local area connection it says network cable unplugged...and when i hover over the wireless network connection it says not connected. there are 2 laptops in the house, and the main computor works fine with internet. the laptops are both wireless, and one of them works with the internet still right now.
when i click view available wireless connections, the screen says: windows cannot configure this wireless connection.
also, when i right click on the icon and click repair it says connecting, but then says: windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: connecting to the wireless network
IM NOT GOOD WITH COMPUTORS! STEP BY STEP WOULD HELP! AND THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!
------------------------------------------
thankyou so much you did help me remove the 1397 or whatever that was....but after steps 1-5 when you say go to view available wireless networks...nothing is there. it says windows cannot configure this wireless connection.
If not, double click on "Wireless COnnection"
and it will say "Wireless Connection Status" for the name of the window.
1.and here you can click on the button saying "View Wireless connections."
2.next to the Wireless Network Name;(ex;Linksys)
3.it should either say manual, automatic, and one of them should* say "connected" next to it.
4.If none of them say "connected" , Double click on the network your house provides. (like a belkin, the name of your router)
5.And if its connected, but still says "cannot configure wireless connection" when you try to repairoutr it, there might be something wrong with how the connections are set up. and if its not working, i'd just play around with it and see if you can figure anything out. thats how i learned how to do all this, now my friends ask me what to do when it happens. So if all else fails, try playing around with it , make sure you dont disable things though. At first i thought it was tough, but once you understand your computer, it'll be much easier. Besides, i'd rather see if i could fix it myself before i go out and have the trouble of getting someone to fix something. [ KisaKiss19's advice column | Ask KisaKiss19 A Question ]
