Tongue Rings

Question Posted Tuesday January 29 2008, 3:26 pm

Okay so I'm 95% positive i'm gonna get my tongue pierced... BUT... the only thing is is that im starting a new job soon and they dont allow them... so is it possible to get it pierced but with a clear ball on the top? My mom said (since she's the manager at where i'm gonna start working) that if i can get a clear one it'll be fine... so does anyone know if that's possible?

No, they don't make a piercing bar with a clear top, you can get a retainer, but remember that for the first two months, you can't change your toungue ring. I had mine for two weeks, took it out for 20 minutes, and the hole closed....I had to have it repierced. Alot of companies will not hire you with a toungue ring either, some will...but most won't. Keep that in mind before you take the plunge.

They make clear tops for them, but you will have a bit of a problem. You can go ahead and get it done, but typically the tongue will swell when its pierced. Therefore before you can even think about changing out your tongue ring, you need to make sure that you have the time to allow it to heal as much as possible and time for the swelling to go down. Then you can go out and try looking for the clear jewelry for it. After you have done this, you can either change it yourself or go back to your piercer and have them do it. You also have to keep in mind tho, that it also depends on the piercer. I am one and typically I will not recommend using the plastic pieces of jewelry until the piercing has completely healed. This is because plastic is porous and can therefore hold germs and bacteria. Again, it really depends on the piercer.

Best of luck
