I might have to get braces. I would never think that I would need braces! My teeth are really straight except for one and that one started to hurt when I ate so I went to the dentist. I don't know anything about braces except that they hurt when you first get them and you can't eat for a while. I really am confused so any help would be appreciated.

It's not just about the straightness of your teeth though, it's also about your bite. I've had one and a half sets of braces, and by no means are they fun, but they're manageable. They are going to hurt at first, and probably every time you go to see your orthodontist and get your wires changed. They are not going to hurt as soon as they get put on your teeth, it will take a few hours, and it's only because your teeth are not used to them and they are being shifted with the wires. You can eat, don't worry, softer foods feel a little better though. [ AquamarineRose's advice column | Ask AquamarineRose A Question ]

Most people's will hurt or feel sore for the first week, but my teeth were fine. It feels kind of ackward when you first get them, but you get used to it. I used to have the problem of the braces irritating my gums and skin [I used to get cuts on the inside of my mouth sometimes], but you get wax that you can put on top of the brace if it hurts. I actually ate an apple [but sliced up so I wouldn't break my braces] the third day that I got them. But again, it just depends on how your body will react to them. So basically its just a little bit weird at first, but you get used to them in only a couple of days. Good luck! [ Bergy413's advice column | Ask Bergy413 A Question ]

soft things and then when you have them on for like
3 months you can eat almost anything thats true I can eat three out of for things that I'am not suppose to eat! I hope I helped

orphans answered Sunday January 13 2008, 12:47 pm: I had braces and truthfully, it isn't that bad. My teeth [bottom mostly] looked like a bomb exploded down there and I was sooo scared that the braces were gonna hurt, but when I first got them on, all I felt was the metal and no slimy teeh haha [you'll get what I mean if you get braces] and all of those rumors that it's really hard for you to eat because the braces hurt soo much, it's all lies. It doesn't hurt, well, the second or third day it may be a little sore and uncomfortable at first but that only lasts for like one day.
Braces allow you to have perfecdt teeth, and you get to pick colors and everything :] I have a retainer now, and I have to wear it until my teeth stop like moving around, but that's the only minor downside of braces.
My sister has braces and she has very staright teeth but some of them were beginning to become crooked so they put braces on her. Most people have braces, so don't worry about it, even when you are getting the braces put on and taken it off, it doesn't hurt at all.
No worries, it's finee :] [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
