avoiding chat

my computer has a camera, and i have video chat capabilities.
this might sound wierd, but...
i really dont want to video chat with anyone!
it's not an internet safety thing or anything, its just that i dont want to do it! i guess it has to do with (a) my camera makes me look wierd and discolored... haha im insecure, but its more about (b) if theres an awkward silence, theres nothing to do to stop it! and other stuff like that.
but anyway, howhowhoww can i get out of it!?

Unplug the camera?
I also agree with saying your folks no longer allow you to use it.

either tell the person that wants the video chat you cant or make it so that other people cant see that you have a camera.
do you IM with it? if you do then under your display picture chould be a pic of the web cam, my friend told me you had to right click it and there are opitions and you can change it that way
