Question Posted Sunday December 30 2007, 11:11 pm

tomorrow night i am spending new years eve with my boyfriend of 6 months. i am 21 and he is 24, so we can definetly go out for drinks but dont really want to since bars will be crazy. he is working till 10 and i am driving down from my house(45 mins away) and am thinking about renting a nice hotel for us. we were going to go out for dinner but everywhere closes at 10. i dont know what i can do. he is pretty clueless about our plans too so i am not sure whether i should get takeout before and suprise him, and maybe have some lingerie as well? i just dont want it to be boring and what not if we just stay in. any ideas on what to do? or know of any common restraunts open till atleast 12?

i want it to be special, but not too special or cheesy. i dont know what his friends are doing either but i think he`d rather it just be us since bars will be obnoxious.

help! thanks=)

Yah, I would steer clear of the bars. You don't want the crazy atmosphere nor the risks on the road going home.
Remember: New Year's Eve = stupid people with lack of common sense who get behind the wheel drunk.

You could have him meet you at the hotel after he gets off work. Make a nice picnic-style dinner.

Of course you want things that are best eaten cold, because you will want to store it in a cooler and there won't likely be a way to heat it up, unless the room comes with a kitchenette or microwave.
Of course if you are planning a nice hotel with one of their nicer, more expensive rooms, then they may very well have kitchenettes. You can call ahead to the hotel and ask what is available in their rooms.

Food doesn't have to be hot in order to be romantic. It isn't what is eaten but the atmosphere in which you eat it. Use candle light and a nice bottle of wine.
Other than that, use your imagination.... ;)

alright well i have a few ideas. not sure if you will like any of them but i'll try =)

-take out sounds like a good idea
-or you could go to a drive through or something
-you could make him dinner at his house (if you can cook)
-lingerie sounds like a good idea
-hotel sounds like a good idea
-maybe you could rent the hotel room first and set up like candles and music and stuff before and then go pick him up and suprise him
-you could probably get food at the hotel
-see if he can get off work before 10? (doubt it)
