Question Posted Wednesday December 26 2007, 5:11 am
My back has been hurting for nearly two weeks. I have many tight knots in my muscles. I often lean over slightly because I crochet for a few hours or draw. But I've been sitting correctly with good posture to avoid any future knots.. but every time I sit.. my back is throbbing. I've received massages from my mom about three times already and I can feel it loosen up.. and I've been sitting correctly for the past week.. so what's wrong? Lately, my bras have been digging into my skin and my mom thinks I need a D cup now. [I'm 16] Is it possible for the lack of support to be hurting my back ? A D cup ? Is there anything else I can do to help my back? I can't go to a doctor or anything like that soon. Hot showers or baths don't work.

I've been big in the chest since that age. I'm not saying your chest size may be your answer but it is defiantly one of your causes. I think almost every young girl and women that carry heaving in the chest have back problems. Whatever the problems is I do know something that will help it feel A LOT better. Have you heard of the hot and cold patches? They work wonders... There’s a certain brand that I find more effective, its called Tiger Balm. There patches made for back pain. Say your whole back is hurting, place a patch in the middle and the soothing sensation travels throughout your back. I have lower back problems so I place a patch on my lower, and in minutes I feel so much better. Try then, trust me you'll love it. Good luck with your pain, and try to see the doctor as soon as you can. [ Tina23's advice column | Ask Tina23 A Question ]

Have you had any previously diagnosed back problems that are possibly reoccuring now?
Is it really back knots, or did you possibly throw out your back? I know someone that threw out his back, and he was in excruciating pain for about two weeks.
I'm thinking, however, that it is due to the size of your breasts. I know many people that had back problems because their breasts were too large. In extreme cases, many women have gotten breast reductions to reduce back problems. I would suggest purchasing bras that will fully support your bust.
Honestly, the best thing to do is take a visit to a doctor. They will know for sure.

Don't worry, being a D cup and 16 is normal! It's different for every person, AND NOW YOU GET TO GO BRA SHOPPING!
If I were you i would get a professional massage. They can range from $10-$130! Although it can get a little pricy it's worth it. My back killed [at the age of 13 I had a herniated disk] and massages seemed to really help [mine were $40 and hour].
In the end it's very important to see a doctor. My back kept getting so sore, and it was important that they figured out it was because of my disk. I don't need surgery, but they know what's wrong and what steps I should follow to recovery.
