the gimp

i have mac (leopard)
and i downloaded the gimp with x11
and it opens like its going to work
then i hit file-->new
and i go to like put the paint brush on it and everything closes down

is there a way to prevent this?
or did i download it wrong?

Try installing it again, maybe from an older package. If that doesn't work, you may be out of luck. The OSX version isn't supported by Apple or the GIMP Team. I don't know what you would do to get further help.

Call 1-800-My-Apple and ask for the U.S. or Canada number for Apple Care. If you bought the protection plan for your machine they should help you.

If not, it's inexpensive and worth getting while on the line with them. Tell them exactly what you did when installing it and they'll give you tips to fix it. That's my best recommendation for you. Call Apple direct.
