missbananafontana answered Monday December 17 2007, 6:56 pm: -Drink water. A lot of times when you feel like snacking, you are just thirsty.
-Eat a lot of small meals. That means eating small meals about every three hours.
-Cravings come a lot of times from boredom. Get out there and do something! Go swimming or biking! You'll be occupied and burn calories.
-If your craving doesn't go away in about 15 minutes, it probably means your hungry. Satisfy it with a healthy snack, like peanut butter and celery or granola.
-Stock up your fridge with healthy snacks. That way there will be nothing bad for you to crave. Pack some snacks when leaving home so you don't give into temptations of hot dogs and other unhealthy foods outside your home.
-Get your blood sugar levels tested by a healthcare professional. Some cravings come from an imbalance that when satisfied with bad foods, can cause damage and more severe cravings.
TIPS:
1. Adding daily supplements can help curb cravings if your body needs additional vitamins/minerals.
2. Pick foods that are natural, not that processed junk. (Foods in cans, plastic packaging, and have high fructose corn syrup. Shopping at local markets or natural grocery stores can help, since a lot of foods contain high fructose corn syrup.) [ missbananafontana's advice column | Ask missbananafontana A Question ]
