run more for distance than speed
3 miles in 25 minutes is a good start. then move up to 3 miles in 20 minutes. at this point you should be able to go on a 10 mile jog with no problem.

learned all this from cross country. was jogging 10 miles within 2 months, running 3 miles in 20 minutes, and i was one of the under talented runners.

The best way is to do long slow exercises. For example, instead of sprinting, try jogging for about 20 minutes. When you do light cardiovascular exercises for long amounts of time it increases your stamina.
