I tried to charge my ipod but when i plug it into the computer, it isn't showing up. The ipod screen doesn't show the charging symbol either. I don't think it's the usb cable i'm using since when I do connect it to the computer, the ipod screen lights up. Someone told me to reset it. I thought you did that just by pressing the middle button, but that didn't work. Do I have to get a new one? By the way I have a first generation nano (i think, its the black glossy type)
iPods don't work as well as they should, especially since the prices are so high.
Go to the Apple store online site, search for "5 r's" or "reset ipod" and follow instructions on there. Or try turning your iPod off and restart your computer. After about 5 min your computer has been restarted, plug the USB and iPod back in again. If neither works, I suggest you get a wall charger because that's what I had to do.
My computer didn't have enough energy to charge the iPod? (It didn't really make sense but oh well). I just use my wall charger and it works fine =)
CHECKERED-LOVE answered Tuesday December 4 2007, 6:50 am: try holding down the middle button along with the meny button for a few seconds until you see the apple logo.
then try plugging it back into the computer.
it should work fine.
