There are countless amounts of scrapbook materials out on the market. The best store I can think of to buy scrapbook stuff is Michael's. Ragshop was good too, until it closed, but Michael's was still better for scrapbooking. If you're scrapbooking according to events, there are tons of background sheets, stickers, and stamps to use with so many themes. Just be creative and have fun; he will love whatever you make for him.

I wouldnt make a big deal aboot it to see how he feels, but dont expect too much like him breaking down in tears of happieness
And pic of you, and you and him, some of yalls favorite things to do like music, ticket stubs form the movies or what not, and i wouldnt add pics of just him, but im sure he wouldnt mind ones of just you along with both of yall
And im sure you can go by hallmart or something to get a blank book, and be careful with teh glue for it causes wavy ness =O
