thing you HAVE to sign up for?

i heard that you have to sign up for something when you turn 18, otherwise you go to jail or something, what is it?

You have to go to the courthouse and sign up for the military draft. Though the draft is no longer in affect, by law, you still have to sign up for it when you turn 18, if you are a guy, in case they decide to reinstate it.

Your probably thinking about joining the army. Guys have to sign for it by the time they are 18, or they could get in trouble. It's just so that if we ever had a big war and we needed more men to fight, they would have to agree to go to war.
