To convert it, download irfanview: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Open the file and go to file, "save as". At the "file type" dropdown at the bottom, select "JPEG" if it is a real-life picture or "PNG" if it is anything else. Save it and the size should be significantly smaller. If it's not, open it in irfanview again, go to "save as" and move the quality slider on the right to the left a bit. This will decrease size and quality of the image.
