Afterwards, I passed out from the mix of blood and laughing gas. I was in pain for about four days (they gave me prescription pain killers, but I found otc ibuprofen worked so much better) The stitches were deffinitley an inconvience as well, I was so thankful when those came out
Make sure when you have the surgery done that you don't play any sports or do any rough-housing. A friend of mine had this surgery done as well, he simply hopped over a small rock on the street when his stitches popped out when he landed. This was a disaster.
Ignatz answered Tuesday November 20 2007, 2:59 pm: It doesn't hurt all that badly. They'll give you novocaine for the incision area and the place on the roof of your mouth where they take the graft. The stitches will be covered up with a sort of hard plastic stuff that will allow you to eat and drink without getting anything into the incisions. You'll be uncomfortable for a couple of days, but it's not enormously painful.
