Windows 98 won't start up.

Question Posted Wednesday November 14 2007, 4:06 pm

Okay, this really is for a friend.
My Windows 98 is working just fine.

Anyways... She tries to turn her computer on as usual, but she get s blue screen that says something like Unable to Restart Normally (the thing you get when you turn the computer off the wrong way) even though she shuts it down properly. It tells her to press any key continue, or press Ctrl-Alt-Delete. She's tried doing both, and both times just ended up with a black screen. Any ideas what she can do about this?

There isn't any way to recover from this error in windows 98. :'( You'll need to reinstall 98 from the disk or upgrade to a more recent version of windows. You can backup your data first from a linux livecd:

Good luck!
