my camera battery

i dont know whats wrong with my camera, but anytime i put a battery in it (anykind of battery) even if its full and brand new, after turning it on once or twice , the next time i turn it on it will only turn on for a quick second or just not turn on, and it says the battery is empty...does anyone know what this is and how i can fix it????
oh yeah and my camera is a Sony Cyber-shot 3.2 megapixel...smart zoom DSC-P72...MPEGMOVIE VX (if thats important)

I think it does have something to do with the camera.

You know those metal flap things or the springs that the batteries connect to? Maybe they have corroted or are damaged.

Check it out.

Try taking it to your local camera guy or electrical store.

If your camera holds regular batteries as opposed to Lithium-Ion chargable batteries, then try using rechargable batteries. Some cameras, maybe yours, just eat regular AA batteries. Rechargable ones might do the trick.
If you have a Lithium-Ion battery for your camera (the square battery), then try charging it in a different electrical socket, maybe there is a problem with the one you've been using. That's happened to me before. If not, buy a new battery.
If these don't work, maybe there is a way you can "reset" your camera, like you can with an iPod. I don't think there's anything wrong with the camera itself, just batteries.
