Question Posted Tuesday November 13 2007, 10:09 pm
15/f: i've only had one boyfriend in my life, and that was during the middle/end of 8th grade for 5 months, and since then, i've been single. i don't mind it, but i feel like no guys have even noticed me since i began high school. it doesn't help that my hs is 70% girls. plus, i'm not the most outgoing girl in the world. i'm trying to be less shy this year, but i still feel like i'm doomed to never have another boyfriend; it's been nearly two years! i guess i just miss the feeling of having someone special. i wish i didn't care so much about this but it bothers me everyday. what can i do?

I never had a serious boyfriend until I was in tenth grade, and I'm still with him now. All of my friends always had boyfriends and I was sooo jealous, I wanted someone too! I spent so much time chasing this one guy, that I ruined a friendship. But wouldn't you know it the second I stopped worrying about it and focused on doing things that I liked, I found someone.
I met my boyfriend during the our school's production of The Sound of Music. I wasn't flirting with every guy there, I was busy learning lines and choreography. But my boyfriend says he noticed me right away, when he saw me on stage one day during practice.
So my advice to you is to try to focus on something you really enjoy doing, writing, drawing, painting, sports, anything! It can be a little hard at first, but it gets easier and easier everyday. Also keep an open mind, don't be too quick to judge guys, after all you wouldn't want them to judge you that way. [ *Kate*'s advice column | Ask *Kate* A Question ]
