another itunes question-more than one computer w/ itunes
Question Posted Monday November 12 2007, 7:12 pm
i have my desktop computer and my laptop. both have itunes but a majority of my songs (about 90%)are on my desktop itunes library but i just downloaded about 5 things onto my laptop through itunes but im worried that when i plug in my ipod its going to erase the songs from my desktop that are on there and only put the songs that are on my laptop on it. its happened once before but i think i clicked the wrong button or something but i dont want to take any chances because at the moment my desktop is on the fritz and not working so if it erased my music....well i would die basically. ok a little exaggerated but if somebody knows what im talking about and can help then please do!
Additional info, added Thursday November 15 2007, 7:18 am: ok i fixed my problem thanks to whoever said to use the control/shift keys. also you can go into your settings and change it to manual music management before you even plug your ipod in. im also going to answer something for those who said you can't get your music from one itunes to the other, you're wrong. before you have your ipod plugged in 1st uncheck all of the boxes next to all the music so nothing will transfer or erase anything on your ipod. ok then plug in your ipod and nothing will happen but then you can go into "file" in itunes and theres a button that says "transfer purchases from ipod" and click that and then you'll have everything from a seperate itunes library all on one. so there ya go.
As you plug in the iPod, hold the control and shift keys, this will prevent it from automatically updating. Hold them until the ipod shows up in iTunes, and a minute after. [ the_unexpected's advice column | Ask the_unexpected A Question ]
