Too Short???

Question Posted Wednesday November 7 2007, 9:40 pm

Ok im really interested in being a model but my mom says im too short! its her fault anyway...haha just kidding. But anyway i think im really pretty and would like to give it a try though i know its a hard business but im 13 and will be 14 in a couple weeks and im only 5'3. I know i am pretty short but its almost average for my age isn't it? and i dont want to do major modeling just small jobs im not in it for the big thing, the real deal like a profession just something fun to try. ;) thanks so much!!!

You can't model at 13! The youngest model I know is Kimora, who started modeling at 14, but even then! And your mom's right; you need to be taller. Wait until you're 16 or so. It may seem like a long time, but it's not. You'll probably grow bigger, but in time. No one is going to hire a 13-year-old to do an 18-year-old's job. I'm sorry if you're disappointed, or want to give me a 1 rating for this, but it's true. Life's tough, and you should focus on things like school and having fun. Modeling is a job, and anyway, you need to be older to legally have your own job. Sorry, hon. I think that your eagerness will earn you a spot later on though. Rememeber, it's not because you're too short, but because you're too young AND short because you're young. I know there's those 12-year-old Australian girls strutting down the runway, but listen, that doesn't make it healthy. There is so much pressure to be beautiful and thin; you'll be fired for gaining a pound or getting a pimple. Enjoy being young and I hope you take this advice to heart, because I know that you'll do well, but this is just too much for someone so young.

i would just go for it, you are too short for runway modeling but not regular so yeah do what makes you happy! i would go through your phone book and look up different modeling agencies and give them call. remember to find a trusting agency though and if they ask for money up front it's most likely a scam.

good luck! :D

Hi, you can still be a model. They have "petite models" which you would fit into that category, and they model in all kinds of things. =)
