i have a 4gb ipod nano.. i recently tried to sync it and it didnt work cuz i had too many songs, not enough room. idk what i did but now all my songs.. all 815 of them.. are not on my ipod ANYWHERE, and when i took songs off and tried to update it again, it says that it can't sync ipod because all playlists trying to be sync-ed are not longer existant. what do i do ?! i tried restarting my ipod and that didnt work either..
Additional info, added Monday November 5 2007, 5:00 pm: i got it for christmas and have never had a problem with it until i tried loading too many songs onto it. like it can hold around 820 and i tried loading about 830 on it. playlist was automatically added that was called something like "selected items for syncing" and it contained all songs. i deleted it but i still have all the 815 songs i want to update onto my ipod in my music library on itunes... LOL_x0x answered Monday November 5 2007, 5:57 pm: 4 gb iPods are supposed to hold up to 1000 songs, I believe. I could be wrong though.
This is based on 4 minutes per song.
Though, the reason yours can't hold more is because some songs are longer, and if you have artwork for each song. This takes up more room.
Next, my suggestion is to go into your iTunes lbrary and delete some songs. Try to get down to about 800. Then, replug your iPod in and see if it syncs.
ALSO:
If you have pictures (not artwork, actually photos) on the iPod, those take up some room, too. Go through and delete some of those (if you have them on your iPod) then try syncing it again.
If this doesn't work, open iTunes, plug in your iPod, and select "maually manage songs" or something really close to that. Then, do what it says, and try manually managing your songs.
If none of this works, then either:
- go to apple.com and click support.
- go to the store you bought it from or a local Best Buy/electronic store.

but if you can't do that, email the people at Apple. [ adverb's advice column | Ask adverb A Question ]
