for like, a year now, both of my big toes have been swollen and ingrown. even when i grown out the nails, they are still ingrown. my mom said that she has though about taking me to a doctor to get them taken off.( the nail, not the toe) but if he does, will it grow back? and is their ANY way that i can heal it. i mean, they OBVIOULSY wont go away on their own!

One, hasn't healed yet, and its been over two years, its really gross, but I can make the half nail look ok, because it only grows at the top and theres no nail ot the bottom for some reason, I file it down, the other one however healed a few weeks later and looks fine and I haven't had a problem with either being in-grown since. It doesn't hurt to have them taken out either, just the numbing shots do if they hit a nerve, though thats rare. There is a way you could attempt to heal it yourself, but its very painful and probably won't be unsuccessful. You'd have to dig out the toenail and clip it, and there will most likely be blood, pus, and infection, so I'd go with the doctor if I were you :) [ mistaric's advice column | Ask mistaric A Question ]

Your toes are swollen, which mean there is an infection beneath the skin, this infection makes it difficult for our nails to grow properly. 10 days of antibiotics should do the trick, no need to cut off your nails.
