Try combining different ways of doing your hair. Say, tie some of your hair up into a bun, and then put the rest of your hair into pigtails.

Also, try having some of your hair clipped to the back of your head with a barrette so that it's standing upside down. The effect is usually the best with shoulder length hair because it'll stick upside down without flopping too much.

I normally braid two strands of my hair and then clip the rest to the back of my head so that it sticks up. I've done it this way for a while. My hair is now down to my waist so it sticks up quite high when I clip it up, but with shoulder length hair you get a more subtle effect which I think would be good if you're trying the style out.

Braiding your hair and then wrapping it around your head is also nice.

Finally, if you have any time to spare during the day, practise styling your hair. That way, you don't have to experiment in the morning when you would probably need to leave home on time.

Well have you tried having it straight then flip out on the end? I recently started doing that and it looks cute. Or you could try curling your hair if your hair isn't curly already.
