Did you actually take time to know him before jumping into a relationship? I'm guessing the answer is no. It's not too late though. Give him a call/txt and do something 'public', like go to the cinema. Then afterwards, you'll have something to talk about (the film) and hopefully, more conversation will arise from that point.
If you want, gather some of yours and his friends together and do something fun. It will probably make you more comfortable around him.

start a topic that both of you are comfortable with...or simply ask him about his favorites..and things will simply flow naturally if there is really love between the two of you...you can tell him that you are shy too..its better if your boyfriend will be your best friend...in that way you cna surely express yourself..

Well...this won't be the answer you'd like to hear I just need to warn you that.
You should really look at your relationship with him right now. It seems you don't know him well and vice versa. You need to tell him maybe you should both take a step back and date before you become boyfriend and girlfriend. Go on a few dates and get to know each other before you become boyfriend and girlfriend.
And yes, there is a difference between dating and a relationship. I'd strongly suggest you both date each other before going further.
