Having irregular period cycle is normal, but it isn't a good sign that you are having it only every three months. This could be hormonal, and may or may not have to do with your being overweight. One reason for irregular periods is sudden weight gain or weight loss. But anyway, you should definately talk to your Gyno about this. One thing they might do is take a blood test to check your hormones and other things that could cause irregular periods. They might ask you some questions to better understand what could be causing this. If needed, you may be advised to have some lifestyle changes, or perhaps be given a prescription to balance out your hormones. But again, the only person who can diagnose anything is your doctor or gyno. Oh, and about about having kids - really some women may or may not have trouble becoming pregnant, but the only way to know is to have an ultrasound to check your reproductive organs. You should discuss any concerns with your gyno- they hear things like this all the time and can give you good advice.
Oh, about stress being a factor...it may be. But stress alone doesn't cause your period to be this irregular. It's probably due to a combination of factors. I advise you to see your gyno and talk to them about it.

Yes, it could most certainly be because you are overweight.

Women with too much body fat produce too much estrogen which interfers thier cycles. If you think your weight is having this effect, you should a doctor.

It could cause difficulties when you are trying to get pregnant, but, once more: YOU SHOULD SEE A DOCTOR.

This sudden change might be due to your weight (which should tell you something right there) or could be the result of some other medical issue. You will need to see a doctor to get all the details and information you need.
