My dentist told me i have it, and i brush my teeth day+night. also, i have braces and im getting them off soon so what are ways i can get rid of the puffiness in my gums.

Since you still have braces on, you can use floss threaders (sold at the drugstore) to help with flossing. Flossing is really important- done regularly, it will really help keep your gums healthy.
Also, try using a mouth rinse, "Peridex," which is formulated to help treat gingivitis. I think you can use that for a short period of time, until the puffiness subsides. You can ask your dentist about it and get a prescription, or maybe it's available at a drugstore w/o prescription.
Make sure to brush gently and thoroughly, twice a day, and floss before going to bed. That should help with your gingivitis. [ ciao77's advice column | Ask ciao77 A Question ]
LaceyIsPrettyBomb answered Saturday October 20 2007, 3:46 pm: My gums were really red and puffy, and my dentist told me to either mix a small amount of peroxide and mouth wash together, and swish it around just like regular mouth wash(it tastes reaaaally bad afterwards, but it works) or take some baking soda and sprinkle it on my toothbrush and brush my teeth with that(not instead of with tooth paste, in addition to toothpaste) like once or twice a week. i never tried the baking soda, but the peroxide and mouth wash works really good. i do it about two or three times a week, and it has deffinetly made a difference.
