Stepping a relationship up

Question Posted Tuesday October 2 2007, 2:12 am

So I'm a senior in high school. There's this cute guy that I like that I've known since sophomore year. I liked him back in sophomore year and I'm pretty sure he liked me but, he just didn't show it back then and was way too shy. So anyways I moved on and we stayed general friends throughout.

Then near the beginning of this summer we started talking pretty consistently again and I began to develop feelings again. This time however, he's much more responsive, but in a more friendly way. We talk on the phone, in the halls, and on AIM but its really just about normal stuff like school and etc.

We flirt sparingly, and the only thing keeping me from thinking that he just views me as a friend is the amount of attention he shows me.

In truth I am convinced he feels the same way, I just don't know how to take it to the next level with the semi-awkward situation we have now. Any help would be great!

Gah! Too many serious questions. I don't even know how to give a smart ass response to this, so once again here goes.

I can understand your situation and I'm sure it's a common one many people have. Unfortunately for you, since he's showing no signs of taking it to the next level, that responsibility falls to you.

You could try flirting with him more and then waiting for a response, but honestly you're better off just getting it over with and asking him out. From what you've told me, he sounds like he'd accept and the beginning of your relationship could be a little awkward, but it's infinitely better than never knowing.

I couldn't follow my own advice in your situation, but that's why I'm just sitting here, giving it. (lol)
