I am not sure what kind of answer you are looking for. But like everything else, everyone has a different taste/preferance. Not everyone likes the same things as you.

I actually haven't met anyone that likes the taste of beer. They drink it because they think it's cool and it's easy to get drunk on it. Since shots of tequila or vodka are too strong of a taste for it, they go for something more watered down like a beer.
And it's not about what tastes the BEST.
It's about what doesn't taste as shitty.
All alcohol tastes like shit.
Unless of course it's some fruity girly drink.

Well, its all a matter of taste. I for one cant stand coffee. I could never drink it myself. I suppose both are an acquired taste, but some people (myself included) do genuinely like the taste of beer.
I also know a number of people who regularly drink non alcoholic beer... thats almost the same taste with no high whatsoever. So, one cant even accuse them of pretending to like it :)
In the end I suppose we could all make a list of things we hate that others seem to like. I know mine would be quite long...
