Really, I should be 117 lbs according to the BMI, but I don't really care as long as I'm not close to being overweight, like I am now. The purpose of me losing weight is to be more healthy, and fit, and well.. to look better, because when some 90 lb girl complains how fat she is, it makes me feel like I'm one of those people on the 'supersize me' documentary that look like bowling balls.
Anyways, I'm in no rush to lose weight because it's fall and I have a lot of hoodies to cover up all the flab I have ;(. But I hopefully want to lose the 15 lbs by December or January which gives me about 3 1/2 months. Currently, I wear medium to large shirts, depending on the brand, and size 7 stretchable jeans.
I have a treadmill but the incline thinger is broken, so it pretty much just goes straightz. I also have 5 lb weights. I can't go to a gym because it is inconvenient since I have school .
I also have this addiction to cafeteria food, no matter how gross it may be. Like my parents pack me lunch (fruits), but I'm still tempted to buy their food. That's probably the only time of day I eat that weird stuff (sometimes a small fries, sometimes a muffin... you may think there's nothing wrong with the muffin, but they put alot of oil into everything, including their cookies). So I kinda need a bit of help with that.
So to conclude, is 15 lbs a lot because I don't want to end up looking like a bobble head, and what size jeans should I be able to fit by the time I do lose the weight?
no, 15 pounds is not that much in a 3.5 month time span. i think you can do it if you stay motivated.
my advice to you would be to look in the mirror and say, "hey, you know, i'm really NOT that bad. compared to like 80% of the population, i'm SKINNY!" after repeating it many times, you start believing it. it's not only the physical work you do, but how you are mentally affected. being optimistic will help you lose more weight.
to avoid buying cafeteria junkfood, don't keep money with you! you may be tempted, but by eating healthy food from home, you KNOW what you're putting into your body. make fruits fun to eat! instead of packing an apple, slice the apple and give a small container of peanut butter with it. it seems stupid, but it would help. most people, in addition, confuse dehydration with hunger. drink one 8 oz glass of water every 3 hours. our teachers in school let us keep water with us, but if your teachers don't let you, do it in between classes. at home, always have a bottle of water with you, no matter if you don't FEEL thirsty. you'll inadvertently end up drinking more water that you thought you would normally drink.
all in all, your goal should not be to LOSE WEIGHT. of course you want to lose weight, but what happens after you lose all the weight? you're back to eating junk food & gaining all the weight back? i think not. your goal, however, SHOULD be to completely change the way you view food. not all foods that are good for you taste like poo. test taste fruits & veggies and see which one is your favorite. keep eating that one until you get bored of it and find a new favorite. you want to change your eating habits, not just LOSE WEIGHT. how did you gain all the weight to start with?!

But anyways, I think even though that it's fall, it's a GREAT time to start losing weight. It gives you like, a year, until summer to have an awesome body. In 3 1/2 months, you can definately lose 15 pounds if you TRY.
The treadmill is fine even if the incliner is broken. Walking can really improve your body. So try walking on it everyday for 30 minutes. I have a TV near my treadmill and I watched a whole movie and ended up walking for 1 hour and 15 minutes..hah! What you can do with the weights is lay down and push your arms up with them, it improves muscle. Also try sit ups to get a flat stomach.
I totally know what you're saying about the lunch thing, but you have to learn to stop yourself. Just think before you buy foods in it, "If I continue this, I won't continue to lose weight." I controlled this habit, and I'm losing weight. It's great that your parents pack you fruits and healthy food. Remember to switch white bread with whole wheat, much better for you.
As for your pant size, I'm not sure what size you'll be when you lose weight.. Maybe a 5? or even a 4. Not sure..sorry. =
So, 15 pounds is fine for 3 1/2 months, and good luck! I hope you achieve your goal!! =] [ footballchick2's advice column | Ask footballchick2 A Question ]
