Cux answered Thursday September 6 2007, 5:23 pm: Here's my take on it: China was seeing that one of the world superpowers [that would be us] was so anti-Communism, that they feared that having their name reflect that they are Communists would stop trade with us, but China is such a huge trade partner- that the US would be idiotic to just stop trade with them for any reason. Plus- "People's Republic of China" sounds better and more appealing than "Communist China". Would you go live there if that was the name? Probably not.
