I know it's impossible to do it alone but I'd like to do my share. I walk and ride my bike a lot, turn off lights when I don't need them, reuse plastic containers, wear old clothing, use the power-saving bulbs, use both sides of my papers, recycle, and when I'm on my own I want to use solar power in my home. I guess you could say I'm a tree huger stuck in modern-day suburbia. I just want to know what else I can do to help the environment. [and not spend a ton of money.] Any ideas? Thanks a lot!
read up on the movie "The great global Warming Swindle" and try to rent it or something. it is so important that people like you see the other side of the story.

We can all affect the next person and so the awareness gathers momentum. The way we are going at the moment there won't be much of a world left for our grandchildren.
I have found some websites that gives you more tips, the first one allows you to add any of your own to share with others equally concerned about the environment.

Start a conservation or environmental club at your school. Create signs to put near light switches and water faucets to preserve electricity. Make sure there are plenty of recycle bins around campus and research recycle laws and facilities in your area so that you can do as much as you can. Make sure there are paper as well as plastic recycling. Talk to the kitchen staff at your school cafeteria and make sure they are recycling containers. My school entered something called the Green Cup Challenge, which was a bunch of schools in the area competing to reduce their electricity consumption the most, and it included making hilarious environmental awareness movies (my chemistry teacher played "Recycle Man" the environmentally conscious super hero). See if there is something like that where you live, and if there isn't start one! Who knows, it could be really fun and you might even be in the newspaper.
Some things you personally can do though is:
only buy organic and biodegradeable cleaning products, instead of buying books, get them at the library or use paperbackswap.com (that's what i do, it's awesome), donate old clothes and only buy clothes you need since fabric manufacturing uses WAY more fossil fuels than most people assume.
I bought the book "It's Easty Being Green" by crissy trask, and it has lots of tips. Photo copy the tips (on recycled paper of course) and post them around your school. Also, make sure everyone in your family is doing all they can to prevent global warming as well!
