seizures

Question Posted Monday August 27 2007, 4:15 pm

my boyfriend came to my house on saturday & he was playing with my little brother in the living room and i was in the kitchen. i looked in and i saw him lying on the floor, so i thought he was asleep, but he was twitching. so i kept watching and his eyes opened and closed a few times. i walked in the living room, and he was staring sraight at me and just twitching. i was talking to him, but e just kept looking at me and twitching, so i rolled him over, and he said"what happened?" my brother told me that he saw my bf fall over, while they were playing. i of course freaked out because my boyfriend just had a seizure! but i have no idea why. he hasnt gone to the doctor b/c he has no insurance. hes 14 and plays golf and football, so his parents think it has something to do with not drinking enough water. this is the first time it has happened. and i am going to be horrified until i know why it did. any guesses as to what caused this?

Seizures are not something to play guessing games about. There are free clinics and local health departments he can go to. Besides, seizures can mean anything. He plays football, he may have a head injury of some sort. It isn't something you just ignore because you can't afford a doctor. I would consider a parent not taking their child to a doctor for this child abuse.

Seriously, encourage him to get to a doctor. Having a seizure at the wrong place and time could spell disaster. He could have one crossing the street and get run over.

people can have small seizures that dont harm anything but it still is not good to have them. i would reccomend seeing a docter even though he doesnt have insurance, there could be a really serious problem with his brain. also he could have hit his head previously playing sports.

I can tell you why some people get seizures:

1] They don't drink enough water.
2] He might've hit himself while playing with your brother.
3] Sometimes something in the brain misfunctions causing a minor seizure.

I recommend he sees a doctor. Or someone who is a doctor since he doesn't insurance. It's better to know that something is wrong and give it medication than to not to know.

Best of luck to you BF!
Hope I helped.
