transferring colleges

Question Posted Saturday August 25 2007, 3:32 pm

I currently attend a two-year community college, and next fall I want to transfer to a four-year college. My school gave me a website for a transfer guide, which is a list of all the classes I have to take to transfer to the four-year. I sent an email to the admissions person at the college I want to attend next year, and they told me that it would be fine to transfer, but that was all they said. Other people said I can transfer next year if I want to.. So my question is, do I really have to go by the transfer guide, or can I just go on and transfer? I am going to try and take as many classes as I can on the guide, but I know I can't take all of them, and I only want to be at the community college for a year. I live in Alabama if that helps any. Thanks!

& just a little extra info.. I chose to go to the community college this year because at the four-year I wanted to go to you have to stay in the dorms unless you're nineteen or older, or are a resident of the city. I didn't even turn eighteen until a few days ago, and I was too late on applying anyways. Plus, the college is about 60 miles away. But I didn't want to sit around and waste time so I figured I'd go to the community college and get a few classes out of the way. :)

Since none of us are familiar with the college, I would suggest talking with someone that works in their department or visit their online website. All colleges are a bit different & have a different set of rules to follow. It seems like you should go by the transfer guide though, since that's what its there for. Talk to someone who works in their offices.

-hope that helped!♥
