Bump

Question Posted Wednesday August 22 2007, 7:43 pm

My friend found a bump under her arm near her armpit. It went away after a week and a half, but I'm still worried for her. Could this be serious?

If it went away, it is likely not serious. Did she by any chance have a cold or other illness recently? There are lymph nodes all over the body, including under the arm near the armpit. These can swell during an illness. With a sore throat or other head cold, for instance, there will probably be swollen lymph nodes in the neck. A chest cold or other minor infection can swell the ones under the arms.
If the lump comes back, it is worth checking out. If not, don't worry about it. But do ask about it at the next regular check-up just to be certain.

I guess it could be serious but it could be a lot of things as long as it doesn't reappear she should be fine.
