I'm trying to improve my mile time by running on the treadmill and increasing the speed obviously. I know that I can run the mile in 9:30 secs. I dont know if that's my best, but it's the only time I know, so I'm wondering what speed you think I should put the treadmill on to obtain that time or somewhere around there (9:15-9:45 range). also, how do you know? is there like a button where you can see which speed will run the mile in that time. haha idts, but maybe. lol
uisforukelele answered Friday August 17 2007, 5:47 pm: i did some math, and here's what i came up with: if you go 6 mph for 10 minutes, you will have run a mile. so you could increase the mph every day by, say, .2 or something. and then it would shave time off of the mile. i'm not sure what kind of treadmill you have, but mine tells me distance, how many calories, speed, and time so far. it also tells me, based on what speed i'm going, how many minutes it should take to go a mile. my advice is to time yourself with a stopwatch. on my treadmill, the different info flashes at different times, so i have to sit there and stare at it to even figure out what i'm doing... like on the screen it will show calories, then time, then distance, blah blah blah. or, if you're math-minded (i am), then you can do a proportion with miles per hour and time to find out how fast you need to go.
