First interview

Question Posted Thursday August 16 2007, 6:40 pm

I have my first interview ever tomorrow and I'm REALLY nervous. Does anyone have any interview tips? Like, what should I expect in going into an interview? What kinds of questions will they ask me?

Thanks!

Additional info, added Thursday August 16 2007, 8:30 pm:
All of the jobs I applied to were retail jobs at stores in the mall, including Payless, 579, and The Icing.

Also, I'd like to add that I have no idea what to wear so if anyone could give me any tips on how to dress, that would be great.

First of all, take a deep breath and calm down.

- Wear something nice. Close-toed shoes and nothing low-cut, short, and no tank tops. Wear a nice blouse and either a shirt or slacks with flats or close-toed heels. Put your hair back, out of your face and wear NATURAL makeup.

Now, they will probably ask you questions such as:

- Why do you want to work here?
(Example answer: This is one of my favorite stores. It seems like this job has a lot of great opportunities and is good for my strengths/is a good fit.)

- What are your strengths?
(Example answer: Working with people is my main strength, I'm a "people person". I'm also patient and a quick learner.)]

- What are your weaknesses?
(Use something positive: I'm a bit of a perfectionist. I can be overenthusiastic about things. etc)

Be calm, smile, look people in the eye. Shake their hand and act professional.

It depends entirely on the job. Could you perhaps give a bit more detail?
