does lust and infatuation go away?

Question Posted Monday August 13 2007, 9:55 pm

15/f. I like a guy who is older than me. I like him more than a friend. But I am beginning to think it's just lust and infatuation. Do these feelings go away on their own, or do I have to do something about it? Because I can't help but think about him 24/7 when I know I'm like the LASTTTTTT thing on his mind. Lol. Thanks.

All through your life you will have crushes. Celebrities, the person who sits next to you in class, that one who gets your bus, the computer technician at work, your postman...It's normal. What's more, it's healthy.

You are 15, which means your hormones are going to be all over the place, making your feelings for people feel especially intense. You're feeling this way about him because to you, he's like a celebrity. He's older, which makes him instantly more attractive and a more attractive option. The fact that you don't have him probably adds to your feelings, the thrill of the chase is exciting.

Maybe something will happen between you and you'll end up in a relationship with him, maybe you won't. Whatever happens, you won't be unable to stop thinking about him forever. These feelings of infatuation will fade. The chances are that by this time next year, you'll have found someone completely different and won't be able to stop thinking about them either.

im in the exact same position, theres a guy who i really, really, really, really like but his personality just drives me nuts, but im still so deeply attracted to him i cant give it up.
I dont think lust and infaturation go away unless you make a decision just not to think about it, but pretty much you cant lie to your heart
