I'm assuming you're talking about a college application essay. If not, disregard my answer.
Whenever you write an essay for a college, regardless of what it's about, it needs to have the following things: a wide range of vocabulary, correct grammar, no spelling errors, no contractions, in a five paragraph essay format (if you don't know what that is just ask), and of course something to keep the reader interested.
Colleges love it when you go on and on about how wonderful you think you school is and the ways the school will help you achieve their goals. While they're reading your essay, they're thinking "It's great you want to be a doctor, but why choose this school?"
Choose a topic that reflects a life-changing moment you've had or maybe write about why you want to do whatever it is you want to do. Write about how working towards your education at that particular college will help achieve your goals and dreams. Let's say you want to be a vet, then write an essay about that time you saw a dog with a broken leg and you wanted to be able to help it sooooo bad.
Really any topic will do as long as the essay is written well. Keep that in mind and you'll do fine. ]
I think several topics you could use is a description of you plans after college, what do you want to acheive as a person, academically, socially, etc.; why is it important to pursue a higher education; possibly a personal narrative on a lifechanging event and how this has instilled you with awesome life lessons; if you could go back in time to a significant time in history and relive or change some things, what time period would you choose and why; I think colleges basically want an essay that displays your true character and values. Don't sweat it, you'll do perfectly fine! Good luck =D ]
