i've lost all hope. i am now going into 10th grade and i started to get really bad acne in 7th grade. i tried everything. after that i used proactive and that didn't work. i finally convinced my mom to take me to a dermatologist. i've been going there for about a year and a half. my face is still the same. it's been really upsetting for me. it's hard to look people in the eyes because i feel so ugly and that they are staring at my acne. the dermatologist prescribed 2 pills a day, a morning cream, and a night cream that i do use like i am suppose to. he has put me on stronger stuff, still does not work. i feel like i'm going to look like this forever and leave scars and everything. i'm not sure what i am asking, has anyone else gone through this? any advice? i would really appreciate it, it's really depressing me. thanks in advance.

It can be very depressing and upsetting. Maybe you could try going to a different dermatologist to get a second opinion. Most acne is treatable... you just have to find the medicine that is right for you. I tried several different kinds before I found one that worked. Have you ever tried Differin? There is a cream that a lot of people get, but there is also a super-strength liquid version that worked wonders on me. Retin-A also worked well for me. Make sure you use a good face wash. I love Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash. If you wear make-up, make sure it is non-comedogenic (won't clog pores). Try cutting back on chocolate and sweets and what ever you do, don't pick at your face because this really just makes it worse and will cause more scarring. You can do all of these things now, but just remember that as you get older, your face will start to clear up on its own. It's hard to wait but try to focus on all the other wonderful things about you and not whats on your face. Good luck! [ mekago5's advice column | Ask mekago5 A Question ]

did you try proactive? my sister went though the same thing, she used proactive, and it worked! you should try that.
